About Elana
Elana has supported supporting women and families during their birth and post-partum period by designing respectful maternity care programs and leading research in West and Central Africa. After her own birth experience, Elana decided to become a birth doula to help women in her own community.
Elana has since taken the DONA birth doula training and wants to help families feel empowered and supported throughout the labor and delivery process. Elana truly believes that births are better experiences for the mother and the baby when families have space and information during childbirth.
Elana brings an evidence-based maternal health lens to her work. Additionally, as a woman who experienced infertility and birth complications, she brings empathy and understanding to her clients who may have had a more circuitous pregnancy journey. Elana likes to make sure she and her clients are prepared for what they’ve set out in their birth plan and the unexpected!
Elana lives in the District, she enjoys going out for runs, reading, baking, and hitting up all the playgrounds in a one mile radius with her two young kids.
